245 - Jerry Lee Lewis - The Jerry Lee Lewis Anthology: All Killer, No Filler

This box set was released by Rhino in the 90's. You can find it online for sale at around $150 or so. I wasn't going to spend that kind of money. Rhapsody doesn't have that collection and I couldn't find it anywhere else I searched. So, unfortunately, I had to build this album myself based off of the track listing. The big pitfalls to this approach is that there were alternate takes, live versions, and such included in the box set and I don't know which songs were which versions. That means that this review is going to be the most awkward of them all because I only could find 36 of the 42 tracks for me to listen to and who knows how many of those 36 were the same version as the Rhino release.

The songs are listed roughly in chronological order. You start off with the Sun Recordings and make your way through releases from as late as the 80's. The good and the bad news is that from the 50s into the 80s, his musical style didn't change. Jerry Lee has basically two sounds - rock and roll boogie-woogie and country/western. Other than the energy level in his voice, when I put the songs in the collection in random, it wasn't easy to determine if the song I was hearing was an old or more recent recording.

Songs I Now Like: "You Win Again," "One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart)," and "Would You Take Another Chance on Me?"

244 - Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP

I reviewed this previously. This album used to be ranked 302. I haven't the foggiest idea why it jumped up with the most recent revision Rolling Stone did to their list. What can I say, I really don't like Eminem.
