247 - Grateful Dead - Live/Dead

You can't state enough that the Dead in the studio and the Dead on stage sound noticeably different. The freedom of live performance to improvise and just jam is so embraced by the band. The Dead struggled with trying to capture how they sound in concert while enjoying the engineering benefits of a studio.
The songs vary from the rambling country, psychedelic, blues jam of "Dark Star" to R&B rave-up of "Turn On Your Love Light."
Other than reinforcing the live vs studio opinion, hearing Live/Dead did nothing to change my general apathy for their music.
Songs I Knew I liked: None
Songs I Now Like: "St. Stephen"
Songs I Can Go the Rest of My Life Never Hearing Again: "Turn On Your Love Light" - I think is mostly because as I was listening to the album, this song distinguished itself from the other songs. It became a milemarker to me during the listens. While I don't think there is anything wrong with the song, it became an annoyance and I kept hearing it as being performed by Grateful Elvis.
