248 - Ornette Coleman - The Shape of Jazz to Come

OKAY, time to get back into the saddle again on going through the Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums after a couple of months of allowing some musical freedom to my ears.

OrnetteColeman-TheShapeOfJazzToCome

If you love John Coltrane, you MUST give Ornette Coleman a listen. The amount of freedom Ornette gave himself and those playing with him to improvise and explore past variations of a melody was HUGE for the time.

This is one of the times that I wish I was more knowledgeable about music theory and such, less of a "by-the-gut" music lover. While I'm fascinated with this album, I lack the words and knowledge to properly explain what is special about this music compared to other jazz works.
