This strong collection of mostly acoustic performances gives you the feel of just hangin' out with the band. There is a great casual feel to the songs without losing any quality to the recording or performance level. The harmonies that you get from the Dead in this album - especially in "Uncle John's Band" - are really nice (and from what I read, this is their first album where they made an effort for vocal harmonies).
You may notice that I hardly have any songs in the "like" section below. It's not that I didn't like much of the album. I do quite enjoy the album as a whole. But if I were to create a playlist and went to this album to select tracks, I would only pick these few. While the album didn't win me over to the band, if I find myself hanging out with a Deadhead, this will be the album that I request that we listen to.
Songs I knew I liked: "Uncle John's Band" and "Casey Jones"
Songs I didn't know but now like: "Black Peter"
Songs I can go the rest of my life without hearing again: None that I would actively avoid.
