I really did not like this album the first time I listened to it. All I could hear were things I didn't like. On the second listen, I started finding stuff in the instrumentation that I liked. After five listens, I've settled into liking and hating something on every track.

My primary problem is Bryan Ferry's vocal delivery. As I stated before, his vocals remind me of the vampire puppet from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and someone trying out for the lead in Phantom of the Opera. At the suggestion of a friend, I tried to see Bryan's vocals with a little more humor and theatricality. That mindset helped to get me through the whole album in one sitting instead of two songs at a time, but it didn't really change my opinion on the music.

The vocals aside, I really liked the sound of the band on most of the tracks. The first half of the album, in particular, was pretty enjoyable. But each time I hit the combo of "Bitter Sweet" and "Triptych," my desire to stop listening to the album kicked right in.

Songs I knew I liked: None

Songs I didn't know but now like: For the sake of picking a song, I'll go with "All I Want Is You."

Songs I can go the rest of my life without hearing again: All of them.
