Covers basically the same time period of 1 & 2 Kings, except the focus is on the kingdom of Judah when the nation splits into two after Solomon. The books actually start with a long genealogy list following David's lineage back through Joseph, Jacob, Abraham, and back to Adam. 1 Chronicles then summarizes King David's rule. David comes off better in this book, apparently from some rose-tinted nostalgia at the time of the book's writing, and is given credit for planning out the temple that Solomon built. 2 Chronicles begins with Solomon's rule and then goes into the kings that followed him. Many of the kings are sort of skimmed over because they strayed from the Lord, but a few (like Hezekiah) that returned to God get a little more exposure in the book.
