Writer's Block: Kids or child-free?

I remember in high school thinking that I may never find someone to marry but at some point I'd adopt an older kid (never wanted a baby). During college I decided that if I had a kid, I wanted to have it before I turned 30. I was (and still a little) convinced that my being 50 with teens or younger was insane. I needed to time children late enough that I got to enjoy just being married but not to stall so long that I used a walker or wheelchair to attend my kids' graduations.
The only difference in opinion between JD and I when it came to having kids was how many to have. I wanted two and JD wanted three. JD has said she was almost accepting only two kids when we found out that Harper was on the way.
