Music DVDs
Jan. 13th, 2010 10:24 pmI think one of the Top 5 things I got out of my working with StrataCom was the console DVD-R. It has served me well as an archive of all my favorite videos on Subterranean and live performances on Letterman, Ferguson, Austin City Limits, SNL, Soundstage, and Later with Jools Holland. I really need to look to see if there is a good jailbreak that would let me put my homemade videos on my iPod Touch. Just this past week, I dubbed around 35 different songs onto discs. I also have whole shows recorded: We Have Signal with Teen Getaway, Pixies on Austin City Limits, and the Dodos on We Have Signal.
The next time I'm at Phonoluxe in Nashville, I hope to have as much luck as last time with music DVDs. I really want to get an old Police concert video, some classic rock compilations (maybe Midnight Special), and a Christmas music video would be nice.
OH! I really need to get an old Talking Heads concert video. I've really been enjoying The Name of This Band is Talking Heads, which has live recordings from '77-'79 on one disc and '80-'81 on the other. Stop Making Sense is a good movie, but the performances from this CD and the videos from this period I've seen online contains more songs I love and has so much more energy than the later concert film.

On a side note, there is a desperate need for blood in the SE/Gulf region. Please, if you are able, find the time to go to the local Red Cross or other blood donation center and offer up a pint. I've even read in the past day or so about some blood banks that have been passing out coupons for a free pint of beer at local restaurants/pubs (with the small print of it not being effective until 4 hours after the blood drive so folks don't get unnecessarily inebriated.
