I keep wanting to bitch about how hot it is. But in all honesty, considering it is June the few days we've had in the 90s seems much less than the past few years. This spring was one of the more temperate ones I think I've had since my return to Huntsville a half dozen years ago.

I would really like to think that the insulation I added to the attic a month or two ago is doing wonders. However, the power bill looks about the same in past years. I have to remind myself that there was a power rate change this past year, so we're probably using less energy. Alas, Huntsville Utilities only shows you the last 11 months' usage on their website for comparison. My enthusiasm for how much money we are/maybe saving thanks to the attic insulation is easily neutralized by my thoughts of the old refrigerator we have in the garage. The garage faces west and soaks up the afternoon sun. We're in a pretty good habit of keeping the garage door cracked open to help with air circulation. There is a noticeable difference between the door being closed and open a foot.

There is no way we can just get rid of that fridge. With our new deals/coupons/sales shopping, we need the extra cold storage. We are using the old side-by-side fridge that was in the kitchen when we bought the house. I'm not certain of the exact age, but it has to be close to 20 years old. I yearn to find $500+ somewhere to help us buy a new (much more energy efficient) fridge. I definitely have the available credit, but am really trying to avoid using it since I'm kinda sick of coming so close to clearing off the credit cards only to let the balance creep back up again.
