Joys of Fatherhood
Apr. 5th, 2007 12:01 pmNigel is home sick with me today. I've been ricocheting around the house doing whatever chores I can do and Nigel has been playing in my vicinity. He came up to me a little while ago saying he wanted to watch a show. I smelled poop and told him he could watch a show after we clean him up. He plops on the floor of his bedroom and I start removing clothes to get to the offending diaper. As I lay the pants next to him, I notice brown on the waist. I lift Nigel's rear to see the waist of his pull-up.
Poop has squirted up out of the back of his pull-up and covers his spine from crack to shoulder blades. During these maneuvers, poop from his back has rubbed onto the carpet. I must now remove his clothes to wash, clean off his body, put on clean clothes, and clean up the stray shit.
This IS NOT an easy task.
Nigel gets upset about having to take a bath/shower and is crying his poor little head off. I manage to carry him into our bathroom and wash him off as tears stream down his face. After getting him out, he calms down. I grab some clean clothes and we move to the living room. As we approach the couch, I notice a brown patch on the back cushion. I don't know exactly when the last time it was that Nigel was on the couch, but I do know that it was before he went into Calvin's room to play blocks. I now remove the cover of the cushion, get Nigel's clothes on, and go to Calvin's room to see if there is any of Nigel's shit on the floor. Only a marble near the blocks. Easily cleaned...so I'm now paranoid there is another mark in Calvin's trashed room (Calvin's been throwing fits this week and dumping out his toys).
I've searched the house and think I've cleaned all the poop. I really hope so because I don't need any sort of shit aftershocks later today on this issue.
EDIT: In the 3-ish minutes it took for me to write the above, Nigel passed out on the couch. I don't blame him, after all that drama, I'd crash too.
