New Gardening Project for the House

We currently have 3 raised beds for JD's garden and she has plans for 3 more.

During the rain today I started pondering capturing rainwater for a garden reservoir. The beds are on the south side of our backyard. I've seen where people keep a barrel at the base of the gutter downspout, but need to see how large of a reservoir I could easily do and methods of distributing the water other than by dipping a bucket into the barrel. Would there be enough pressure in the barrel for some sort of irrigation hose to come out of the bottom?

*grrrrr*

Looks like some prime surfing fodder and a few trips to Home Depot and Bennett's Nursery.

JD and I are watching the new Good Eats (corned beef) when someone said New York City and a group of guys yell a surprised "New York City!?"

It is nearly impossible for me to hear someone say "New York City" without me mimicking those cowboys from the Pace commercial. JD has told me several times that it annoys her that I have this compulsion. :b

I'm Blind from the Tears Filling My Eyes!

I decided to spend some time this evening looking for some NASCAR communities on LJ. I had no idea that I would discover nascar_slash.

It is a community for NASCAR fanfic and fanart. Most (if not all) of the stories posted involve gay pairings of drivers and/or crew chiefs. To think I was intrigued by the NASCAR fan in one community for advertising he is a bear in his intro. But the kicker to me is that more than half of the stories seem to be written by women.

This whole community grabs my attention with the NASCAR, gets me nostalgic for the last time I had a group of friends (uh, they were 95% gay), tickles my funnybone with the cheesy porn*, and blows my mind with how active it seems to be.

I don't think I'm going to join or anything, but I do see myself coming back occasionally when I need an good laugh.




* I don't mean to disparage cheesy porn at all. Phone sex is worthless to me because I can't stop laughing. Since JD is a Harlequin Blaze addict, I see a good bit of cheesy porn...and over the years I've come to appreciate laughing with a hard on. And not just because it's amusing to watch Chuck (yes, my penis is named "Chuck") bounce around while I chuckle.
