I completed a job today for a company in Research Park. They contacted K on Friday about their need for marketing materials to take to potential customers...on Tuesday. They sent us some reference docs Friday evening, met with us Saturday morning, K and I created a "first draft" by Sunday morning, went to their office this morning and spent the whole freakin' day trying to get the last draft done by COB. It's not that we did multiple rounds of edits, they just took forever to get back to us. I had a bit more than an hour where I sat alone in the conference room killing time on the internet. Anyways, we got the job done. We received kudos from the senior staff on both the quality and speed of the job.
We also impressed them with our research. While preparing how to market them vs their competitors and with their alliances, we discovered a partnering opportunity they had pondered but hadn't known if the other company was capable in this particular area. I found out later in the afternoon that two executives had already scheduled appointments to follow up on the lead. ...It's all about networking and building bridges...
The best part of the day was that we actually had a check from them before we walked out the door. I'm so grateful to not have to wait for invoices to clear and other such mucky-muck.
I've already decided a BIG chunk of the paycheck is going towards Amex (I'd love to pay of the last bit soon). For the fun of it, I'm allowing myself two CDs...and maybe a DVD.
