Sunday vs. Monday
Mar. 20th, 2006 03:59 pmSaturday night, I crashed around midnight. I wake up at 2:30am to pee or get a drink. While I'm up, I hear Nigel cry out. I pause by his door to see if I need to wake JD. After some moaning, a couple of yelps, and some murmurs, he passes back out. Now, I'm awake. However, I'm in denial and decide to lie in the dark in bed. Nothing. At 3:30am, I go into the living room and, thankfully, decide not to watch a movie but to listen to music while I try to pass-out on the couch. Nothing happens. Three Seal CDs later, Nigel cries out again and means it this time. I help JD give the baby some medication for his nose and I return to the couch and switch over to ambient music. JD checks on me a little past 5:30am and I'm nearly asleep.
On Sunday, I have Nigel Wake-Up duty. I wasn't happy about this fact of life, when JD comes to get me at 7:30am. Mmmmmm, two overnight naps totaling around 3 1/2 hours. I was not happy all day. The bags under my eyes weighed me down so much, I looked like a basset hound. Even though I tried to nap, I succeeded in achieving complete relaxation but couldn't actually go to sleep. Of course, a trip to Publix to buy some Unisom was my last act of the evening.
After a solid night of sleep, I awake to my favorite situation - a steady rain is falling and there's no rush for me to rouse myself from bed. This is JD's morning with the boys. After doing some work on StrataCom's catalog this morning, I've been spending the afternoon watching the race on Tivo and doing ham/spam in the bedroom. It's been nice, peaceful, mostly quiet, and the zen-like day I've needed for a while.
