If Nigel was a cat, he'd be dead by now
Feb. 21st, 2006 07:12 pmI'm starting to discover one of the first ways that I appreciate Calvin's personality more than Nigel's. Nigel is "adventurously curious." We childproofed some places in the kitchen and bathroom after Calvin was born. We've already surpassed the previous level of infant security and I'm about to purchase a great deal more supplies from Home Depot.
Calvin tends to be much more easily swayed from areas we don't want him to venture. Nigel is stubborn and will troubleshoot ways of circumventing our efforts. Calvin wants to use my laptop, I can shut it and he'll leave it alone (even as a wee boy). Nigel wants to play on my laptop, I shut it and he bangs on it...then he'll push in small spots (like trying to find a button to pop it open)...and so on until he conquers the item or we put it out of reach. With his growing, keeping things out of his reach is becoming more difficult. He's a climber. Unlike Calvin, Nigel will climb on boxes, chairs, or whatever to get higher. It's just a matter of time before we catch him doing Spiderman-esque stunts of climbing bookshelves or onto the kitchen countertop.
