A day in Talladega
Sep. 29th, 2003 09:15 pmI spent Sunday down at the track for the race. My brother, dad, and dad-in-law went with me (the parental units bought the tix for my birthday in May).
We had FANTASTIC seats in the B'ham Tower which is at the end of pit road near the track's off-center start/finish line. We could see nearly the entire track. We had a big screen TV right across the front stretch from us. MRN could be heard over the speakers giving play-by-play. I also learned that the $50 for the scanners to listen to the conversations between the drivers and the pit crews was very well worth it. Needlesstosay, I returned last night with sunburned arms and (yes) neck. It was an exciting race. Now that I've seen 3 races there, I would love to see more from the location we had, but am more eager to see races at other tracks. I know I desire to go to Bristol isn't going to happen soon (because of the loooooong waiting list) so I'm going to start looking into seeing some races in Atlanta and some other places in the SE.
Calvin profited from the trip. We returned w/ a Dale Jarrett t-shirt (from my dad), a Mark Martin t-shirt, and Mark Martin bib (my and Andy's purchase).
