Nov. 19th, 2002 07:52 pmCalvin has been in a very vocal mood today. He is constantly chatting and singing (well, what passes for that at 5 months of age, at least). JD told me that rather than his usual grunting, whining, or crying when he woke up this morning...he was just cooing and singing up a storm in his crib. I took advantage of this and called my parents' voicemail at home and left a msg of him cooing...a good 90 seconds of so of nothing but him cooing.
Darrell has been out the past couple of days taking a couple of sick days, so I've done everything that I could to get caught up with work at the station that I can do in my booth...so I created a couple of music lists today because of something that a bunch of teens on a forum I frequent wrote. Below is what I did while paying minimal attention to today's guest host:
Most talented musical artists in past century (in no particular order):
1. John Coltrane
2. Jimi Hendrix
3. Brian Wilson (with the Beach Boys as his "instrument")
4. Prince
5. The Who/Pete Townsend
6. Beatles
7. Dick Dale (guitar virtuoso and father of surfer rock...seen him perform and his guitar picks melt from the way he plays - goes thru a pick per song)
8. Miles Davis
9. Stevie Wonder
10. Bob Dylan
Most original/influential "punk" artists:
1. The Stooges
2. The Ramones
3. Talking Heads
4. Sex Pistols (more for the fashion and the epitome of what punk would be stereotyped as rather than any real musical influence)
5. Black Flag
6. Misfits
7. Nirvana
8. Green Day (primarily because of all of the poppunk groups that they inspired in suburbia that now dominate the charts in the US)
9. Yo La Tengo (who Radiohead is trying to be)
10. Jello Biafra/Dead Kennedys
Greatest Rock Albums:
1. Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
2. Sgt Pepper - Beatles
3. Aja - Steely Dan
4. IV - Led Zeppelin
5. Pet Sounds - Beach Boys
6. OK Computer - Radiohead
7. Nevermind - Nirvana
8. Syncronicity - Police
9. Tommy - The Who
10. Graceland - Paul Simon
