I received Axis & Allies for my birthday. My brother had the board game when we were teens but I never had an opportunity to play it because...well, none of my good friends then would play a strategic game like that. The PC version I bought 6 or so years ago was one of my favorite games to play when I wanted to take a break from Sim City (still my fav of all PC games). Alas, the old disc just doesn't get along w/ XP so I begged for a new game. Don't you know there's a new version out with "real-time strategy" aspects that the game didn't have previously - thanks to games like Civilization, I guess.

While wary about the changes the first few days of playing it, I've had some opportunities the past few days to play (mostly undisturbed) for a couple of hours at a time and have become very addicted. Last night as I fell asleep, as I dreamt, and as I struggled to wake up - all things seemed to be filtered through the real-time strategy portion of A&A. It's not as mind-numbing as Tetris was, but I think I might take a day off from the game. ;)

Step one

First you have to give Axis and Allies over to a higher power.
