Dec. 13th, 2005 09:58 amThings that have occurred since my return from D.C.:
Bad things:
1. I was immediately infected by loving wife and kids with the colds they had. Nigel and I are still a little sick. Thankfully we both seem to have the same, but minor, problem - copious production of thick snot that fills the nostrils but can be easily blown (by me) or sucked out (of Nigel by me). It's been more than a week and I still must drain about a 1/4 cup of snot out of my head each morning. Otherwise I blow my nose every couple of hours during the day.
2. We had been planning on doing our first family Xmas picture postcard this year. An appointment had been arranged with a local photographer, however, Calvin refused to leave the house. I told him that if we couldn't take a picture of the family, he would need to draw a picture of the family for us to mail out. He drew something rather nice (for a 3 year old) and now I gotta figure out how I'm going to get it printed out on postcards (should I do it on home computer or just go to Kinko's?).
Good things:
1. Got paid for my two week-long trainings. Apparently the boss decided to up my rate for training and I was blessed with a larger paycheck than I had anticipated.
2. Spent $85 of that money on a plumber to fix the master bath toilet (aka - bring his 12' snake to find the 3 Clorox wipes -JD now knows they're not flushable- and a 2' long piece of ribbon ??Calvin??). The rate of successful flushes had reached less than 30% and I was not going to continue the potty gambling any further. Now I no longer grab the plunger when I flush in anticipation of needing to give the throne a helping hand.
3. Sears had a great sale, I remembered I still had credits from a return last Xmas, and bought a much needed new wallet and winter gloves.
4. Satisfied the wife's "Clark Griswold" desire to light up the outside of the house like the Vegas strip by putting up garland with white lights on our front porch and a nice fresh wreath on the front door. She told me last night that swinging on the front porch with the lights on was quite romantic and we need to go out there tonight with a glass of wine after Nigel goes down.
5. Computer conversion to XP is going exceptionally *knocks furiously on wood* well and all problems are very minor and mostly resolved.
6. Most of the holiday shopping is done.
