It was a given that my Jason Lee fandom would lead to my watching "My Name is Earl" on NBC. Thanks to some creative writing (the dialogue and Earl's vocabulary in particular) I am now a hard-core devotee to the show. I love the pairing of "Earl" with "The Office" (another fav show of mine - sorry, BBC version could only hold my interest for short periods).

Now, as networks have a tendency to do to shows I like...I'm now paranoid that "Earl" is destined to be cancelled. The show is too witty and subversive to capture the audience that keeps shows like "According to Jim," "King of Queens," and "Two Guys (Crier/Sheen)" on the air.

Please take this moment to pray with me for the survival of "My Name is Earl."

*Amen*

The ink on the the contract is barely dry ... and now the cancellation stamp comes down. TOTALLY KIDDING!!! I can't back that up, I really can't. It's a hilarious show! So is the office. I loved the BBC version and barely gave this one a chance ... until last week. Now I think I'm hooked.

I breathed a sigh of relief earlier today when I read an article on cnn.com about the ratings so far this season. It seems that "Earl" is one of NBC's highest rated shows. Considering they're third in the ratings, that's not saying much.
