I'm definitely willing to dedicate the next 30 days to a daily post about music! :)

I must confess that a favorite pastime of mine is imagining performing songs despite the reality of my musical talents. Of all of the songs I've fantasized about writing and performing, this is the song that if I were to ever write a song...and could only write one song...this one would be it. The sentimentality of saying goodbye, the vocal dynamics, and feel of the song tap right into my soul.

My favorite lyrics are:
"Kiss me, please, kiss me/
Kiss me out of desire, Baby, not consolation"

Jeff Buckley - "Last Goodbye"

Post 5 songs (or more) that start with the letter you're given. Let me know if you'd like a letter.
[livejournal.com profile] luvinthe88and20 gave me L. I'm going to be all spontaneous and jot down the first 5 that come to mind and then go to YouTube for the corresponding video so the site doesn't influence me.

1. I cough every time I get out of the shower. Every. Time.

2. I am very anal about organizing the dishwasher. All of the utensils are segregated to certain areas of the silverware basket. I have been known to open a friend's or family member's dishwasher to put away my dish and then dedicate the next several minutes to totally shifting everything around.

3. I can identify city skylines in TV shows, movies, etc. Typically, an establishing shot comes up, I turn to JD, and I tell her, "They're in Cleveland" or where ever.

4. My favorite drink is equal parts Mountain Dew and orange juice.

5. Every time I think about the words "New York City," I think of the old Pace commercials with the cowboys discussing salsa and they discover Brand X is made in...New York City!? Because of this fact, nearly every time I say "New York City," I can't help but do similar inflections.

6. It is rarely possible for me to say something simply and straight forward, such as "The car wouldn't start." I instead will usually say something like "I got in the car, put in the key, and the car was all like 'Grrr...rrr...rrr..ugh! Ooo! I'm dead!" and make a funny face and gestures.

7. I have about 7 different little soda can cozies of various styles and colors. I must confess that I actually take 10 seconds to look at what I'm wearing and pick out a cozie that somehow coordinates with my clothing...even if I'm just bumming in mismatched PJs.

1. You can ONLY answer Yes or No.

2. You are NOT ALLOWED to explain ANYTHING unless someone messages or comments you and asks. And believe me, the temptation to explain some of these will be overwhelming...nothing is exactly as it seems.

3. It is harder than it looks. But no explanations !!! You will want to...But don't!!!

Copy and paste this into your notes, delete my answers, type in your answers, and tag as many of your friends as you'd like to.

Who comments the most on this journal? )

It's been a few years since I've done this. What gets me each time are the LJ folks that have comments listed that I haven't the foggiest idea who they are. Some users I recognize from communities but others leave me scratching my head after I look at their user info.

Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given. If you want, you can put 5 subjects/things in the comments and I'll put my reply to any/all of those in a post w/ each person's 5 behind a cut so you can look at all, just yours, or skip the post altogether.

1. Take a picture of yourself right now.
2. Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair - just take a picture.
3. Post that picture with NO editing.
4. Post these instructions with the picture.

Ah, my natural state around the house - sans glasses. Ugh, and I must get my head-shrub pruned next week.

Meme originally seen in [livejournal.com profile] theverticalbar's journal.

1. Open a music player
2. Go to 'all music'/'library'.
3. Hit shuffle/repeat/randomize.
4. Find photos of the first 10 artists/bands that come up (no repeats and no cheating).
5. Have people guess who the artists/bands are.
6. Paste this in your journal and do it too, so I can have fun guessing as well.

I'm going to confine this to the music currently on my laptop rather than going to my PC where my mp3 collection resides. No cheating by checking the properties for the pics!

Do you see what I listen to? )

Because we never really know each other as well as we think...

In response to this post, I'd like you to ask as many questions as you want...it can be 1 or 100. Anything about which you are curious, anything you feel you ought to know about me. Silly, serious, personal ,anything. Ask away. Trust me, you're more likely to be scared by my reply than I will be of your questions. Go ahead and try!!!

Then copy this to your own journal and see what people don't know about you.

1. What is your favorite Christmas memory with your family or friends?
My brother was in a Christmas play in 3rd(?) grade where he played an elf. That Christmas and maybe the next, we had him wear his elf costume and hand out presents. Nothing like a little Christmas schadenfreude.

2. What is your favorite Christmas memory away from home?
While I would think there is some discrepancy during my bachelor years, I don't think I've ever spent "Christmas" away from my family. Christmas Day might have been apart (me at JD's family's house or something), but I think I have spent every Christmas with my family.

3. What is your favorite secular Christmas song (not religious)?
I can't pick just one. Too close of a race...and I there are a lot of Xmas songs that I always screw up the titles, so I'm going to remain mute on this one.

4. What is your favorite sacred (religious) Christmas song?
Chorus of the Bells or Choir of the Bells, whatever

5. Favorite Christmas cookie?
JD makes these kick-ass sugar cookie (shortbread?) with cranberry compote swirl cookies.

6. Favorite Christmas dinner dish?
Taco Bell after eating traditional Xmas food for several days at the various family dinners.

7. Favorite Christmas movie(s)?
TIE - A Christmas Story and A Charlie Brown Christmas

8. Favorite Christmas drink?
None, really. I like hot, thick cider during the winter.

9. Is Christmas meaningful to you in a religious way, a spiritual way, or just a feel-good holiday?
Mostly a spiritual/fellowship of man sort of thing.

10. Favorite gift you got as a kid?
I was spoiled enough as a kid that no particular Xmas stands out more than another for the present I got. I fondly remember Xmas 1989(?) when I bought my brother a Gameboy and games for Xmas.

11. What gift are you asking for this year that you would be a little disappointed to not get?
Black Converse Chuck Taylors - My day-to-day pair are worn and have holes. I do have another pair of regular black, but they are the pair of shoes I wore at my wedding. I've only worn them 3 times since - all to weddings.

12. If you could make ANY wish for this Christmas, that might come true by magic, what would it be?
That Harper gets over being awake for such long stretches at night.
